Theatre Victoria's School of Performing Arts Acting Academy - Fall

The ten week Fall Session of the Acting Academy will begin September 16, 2008 for Grades 1-4 and 5-12.

Grades 1-4, in creative dramatics, participate using their imaginations and five senses to portray characters on stage. They work on the basics of presentation: movement, projection, voice and expression. Students work on using action to tell a story with all the plot elements. This class emphasizes creativity and imagination utilizing improvisational activities and play acting. A small performance at the end of the session demonstrates the skills they have learned.

Grades 5-12 participate in role-playing activities through improvisation and character development. They engage in in-depth scene work utilizing monologues and two or three character scenes. Students learn audition techniques, vocal projection, movement for actors and are introduced to the basic elements of technical theatre. A small performance at the end of the session demonstrates the skills they have learned.

Registration for the Fall Session of the Acting Academy will begin August 1st! For more information, and to sign up now call 576-6277.

Dearly Beloved - Fall Comedy
The writers of the television sensation "The Golden Girls" have brought us a story of a completely dysfunctional-but loveable-Texas family in the throes of another series of life-changing events. Dearly Beloved does for small-town Southern weddings what Dearly Departed did for small-town Southern funerals.

The Futrelle sisters have kept tongues wagging for years. Frankie Futrelle has ongoing conversations with their dead mother, sister Twink is desperate to get her boyfriend of 14 1/2 years down the aisle, and sister Honey Raye has a tendency to race to the altar at every opportunity.

Frankie has made herself sick with preparations for her daughter Tina Jo's wedding. In spite of her own marital problems, Frankie hopes that she can pull it off with elegance and style. But on the day of the nuptials, Frankie's hope begins to dim when she discovers Twink's alternative solution to an expensive catered wedding dinner is a potluck supper sponsored by Clovis Sanford's House of Meat. When Honey Raye arrives at the church in skintight gold lame', consumed by hot flashes and a determination to right old family wrongs, Frankie's hop is shaken. It is lost completely when word reaches the church that Tina Jo and her fiance' have fled Fayro and eloped. Let's not forget about Gina Jo's (Tina Jo's twin sister) lasting crush on the UPS seminarian!
