1st Annual Playwriting Competition and Festival

You have Chosen!

The Winner is....(drum roll, please)

Four Old Broads
by Leslie Kimbell

"Audience selects original play for theater season" by Ismael Perez, Victoria Advocate, Aug. 4, 2017.

Theatre Victoria proudly announces its First Annual Playwriting Competition and Festival.

Now in its fortieth season, Theatre Victoria has established an annual playwriting competition, searching for the best comedic plays from across the country. The winning play will be produced as part of Theatre Victoria’s regular season. The winning playwright will receive a stipend and performance royalties.

In addition to creating an opportunity for playwrights, the structure of this competition will provide a unique opportunity for area residents and theatre goers. Once the top three plays have been determined, the public will be invited to a staged reading of each play at Theatre Victoria’s Annual Playwriting Festival. After watching a one hour version of each play, audience members will vote to determine the winner. For the first time, local audience members will have a direct and immediate impact on a season play selection.
